MGT711: Philosophy of Management (3 Cr. Hrs.)
Course Description: This course explores management's philosophical foundations and
theoretical perspectives, including various schools of thought and their applications in
contemporary management practices.
Course Objectives: The primary objective is to provide students with a comprehensive
understanding of the philosophical underpinnings of management theories and practices. More
specifically, upon completion of this course, the students will be able to --
- Identify major philosophical theories in management,
- Explain the implications of different management philosophies,
- Apply philosophical concepts to management practices,
- Critically analyze various management theories,
- Integrate philosophical theories into a coherent management framework, and
- Evaluate the effectiveness of different management philosophies.
Academic Writing
This course offers a comprehensive introduction to academic writing, focusing on its meaning, significance, and practical applications across diverse academic and professional contexts. It equips students with essential skills to communicate ideas, research findings, and scholarly arguments effectively and appropriately. The course covers a wide range of academic writing formats, including seminar papers, workshop proceedings, journal articles, textbooks, reference materials, and discipline-specific research writing. Through a structured exploration of writing conventions, organization, style, and critical analysis, students develop an in-depth understanding of how academic texts are constructed and evaluated. Emphasis is placed on clarity, coherence, academic integrity, and the use of evidence-based arguments tailored to specific audiences and purposes.
